Two scientific and technological innovation laboratories that focus on the integrated circuit semiconductor sector have been launched in middle schools in Sichuan Province and Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.
The laboratories are funded by the Chinese Communist Youth League Central Committee, intending to support scientific and technological innovation among teenagers.
Construction of the two labs was led by China Electronics Corporation (CEC), while computers and a wide variety of chip samples were provided by more than 50 companies.
Each lab includes four zones focusing on integrated circuit semiconductor perceptual cognizance, practice, multimedia teaching, and competition teaching and all are equipped with experimental boxes, graphics of historical figures and events, products and supporting learning packages.
Upstream and downstream materials like crystal bars, silicone wafers, various kinds of packaging chips, printed circuit boards (PCBs) and complete machine products can also be found at the labs, which will help students better learn about the integrated circuit industry.
Diversification-themed innovative activities are planned to be held in the labs in the future. An open and sharing mechanism between the labs and universities and scientific research institutes in the same region will also be established to promote cross-campus and trans-regional online-offline exchanges and study.
