Power Construction Corporation of China (POWERCHINA) recently signed an EPC contract with Vietnam's WTO Company to participate in construction of the 350-megawatt offshore wind power project in Ca Mau, the largest of its kind in Southeast Asia.
According to the contract, POWERCHINA will be responsible for design, equipment, construction, installation and adjustment of the wind farm in the intertidal belt, submarine cables, a 220-kilovolt transformer substation and the 220-kV power export lines.
The project contains four parts. The first two with an installed capacity of 190MW are scheduled to be put into operation on Oct 15, 2022 and construction of the other two parts is to be completed on June 30, 2023.
Once operational, the farm is expected to produce about 1.1 billion kilowatt-hours annually, an equivalent to reduction of about 450,000 metric tons of standard coal and 880,000 tons of carbon dioxide.
It will greatly relieve power shortages in southern Vietnam and will contribute to sustainable development by playing a role in promoting diversified power supply modes, reducing utilization of fossil energy and protecting the environment.
