The Tengeh Reservoir's 60-megawatt floating solar farm project, the largest of its kind in Singapore and the largest drinking water reservoir floating photovoltaic (PV) power project in the world, went into operation on June 16.
Covering a water area of 39 hectares, more than 122,000 PV plates were installed for the project.
It is expected to meet seven percent of power demands of the Public Utilities Board of Singapore and supply clean energy for several water treatment plants affiliated to the department.
Its operation also made Singapore the owner of the world's largest fresh water reservoir PV power project and will contribute to the country's goal of increasing its solar-generated power to 1.5 gigawatts by 2025.
The project was built by Shanxi Electric Power Engineering Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Energy Engineering Group.
