The first turbines at the first and third phases of the wind-power project in Vietnam generally contracted by Power Construction Corporation of China (POWERCHINA) were hoisted on June 14.
It is the first overseas offshore wind power project generally contracted by a Chinese enterprise.
The entire project has a total installed capacity of 171 megawatts and includes 57 wind blowers.
In addition to the turbines, POWERCHINA is also responsible for the construction of a 220-kilovolt land booster station and a 110-kV station at the first and third phase sections, which are located at Bac Lieu and Soc Trang, respectively.
The wind farm is scheduled to be connected to the power grid by the end of October 2021.
Upon completion, it is expected to provide 577 million kilowatt-hours of clean power annually, equivalent to a reduction of 140,000 metric tons of standard coal per year.
