An open house event was held at China Energy Investment Corporation (China Energy)'s South Sumatra 1 Power Station in Indonesia on June 17, showcasing the company's contributions to local economic and social development and improved living standards.
The power station was the first coal-electricity IPP project invested in by China Energy overseas. The first phase of the project included the installation of two 150-megawatt condensing steam turbine generator units that are used to support the open pit coal mine with an annual output of 210 metric tons.
It now plays a backbone role in the region's grid.
Richard Sinambela, deputy manager of the station's operation department, said that the plant has provided the best power services for the country and high-quality electricity to local users.
In addition to stabilizing the station's operation, China Energy also fulfilled its social responsibilities.
Hoiri Jeffrison, head of a village near the station, expressed his appreciation for the project as it has created jobs for local people. He added that staff members at the project had helped to renovate mosques, roads and bridges, which have promoted local economic growth.
So far, the company has offered more than 7,000 jobs through three projects in Indonesia and has provided anti-pandemic supplies valued at $267,000 to the region where the station is located.
Adhering to the principle of "extensive consultations, joint contributions and shared benefits," China Energy has positively participated in the Belt and Road construction – using its energy industrial chain advantages to push forward international development by participating in high-quality international cooperation projects.
