World's Highest Altitude Wind Power Project Completes Blower Hoisting

Updated: 2021-06-29

Hoisting of the wind blowers has been completed at the Lhoka distributed wind farm in Comai county, Southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region.

Located at an altitude between 5,000 and 5,065 meters, the wind farm is currently the highest of its kind globally.

With a total installed capacity of 22,000 kilowatts, 10 wind power generator units will be equipped at the power generation facility.

The project will explore the study of wind energy resource characteristics, wind power generator unit technologies and wind farm development and operation solutions in ultra-high-altitude environments. It is expected to lay a strong foundation for large-scale wind power development in the region.

The project is contracted by Chengdu Engineering Corporation Limited, a subsidiary of the Power Construction Corporation of China.
