China's first intelligent assembled bridge-building machine (IABM) is now playing its role in the Yuedong Road expansion project in Shaoxing, East China's Zhejiang Province.
It is the first prefabricated municipal bridge project in the province, and is being built in preparation for the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022.
Independently developed by China Construction Eighth Engineering Division Corp., Ltd, a subsidiary of China State Construction Engineering Corporation, the machine completed the installation of the stand column, the bent cap and the box girder during the construction process.
It is also capable of erecting a 200-ton bent cap within 30 minutes, which sets a record in the country.
Thanks to its intelligent operating system, the machine can carry out key processes automatically and at the same time avoid manual errors.
It is also estimated that construction of each kilometer of the bridge can be completed seven days faster with the use of the machine.
