The Dapilon-Santou railway, the first modern railway in the Republic of Guinea, is soon to fully open for service. A carriage-load of aluminum ore has already been exported through the line.
With a designed speed of 80 kilometers per hour, the 112.29-kilometer railway was built to Chinese standards with Chinese technologies using Chinese equipment.
It was also the first project contracted by China Railway Construction Corporation Limited in Guinea.
Upon operation, the railway is expected to strengthen Guinea's leading role in the global aluminum ore market and will improve the modern railway network in Guinea and West Africa, which will promote African economic and social development.
