A cargo air freighter loaded with 25-tons of goods departed from Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang Province for Budapest, capital of Hungary on May 26. It was Ningbo's first direct cargo flight to Central and Eastern European countries (CEEC).
The goods included electronic devices, anti-epidemic supplies, clothes and industrial raw materials.
As the China-CEEC Expo & International Consumer Goods Fair is to open on June 8 in Ningbo, the freighter will carry back exhibits, agricultural products and foods.
Operated by China Eastern Air Holding Co. Ltd (China Eastern), the freighter route will act as an air bridge for international trade between Ningbo and Budapest.
Scheduled to operate two flights a week on Wednesday and Friday, the route will consolidate Ningbo's role as the beginning point of the Maritime Silk Road and enrich the import goods structure and product types at the Ningbo port.
It will also promote China-made products to the CEEC and contribute to stabilizing the global industrial chain and supply chain.
China Eastern has been an active player in Belt and Road construction and has fulfilled its responsibility as a central state-owned enterprise by increasing international air routes.
It has launched several international routes between Zhejiang cities and Frankfurt in Germany, Jakarta in Indonesia and London in the UK.
It has also made strong efforts to boost economic development in Zhejiang.
Thanks to cooperation between China Eastern and Ningbo Lishe International Airport local people are able to buy fresh cherries grown in Chile.
