A 225kV mobile transformer substation project in Cote d'Ivoire, contracted to China National Machinery Industry Corporation Ltd (Sinomach), recently went into operation, completing the country's power grid development and renovation program.
Valued at $818 million, it was the largest power project ever completed by Sinomach in the country.
The project included the construction of more than 1,680 kilometers of 225kV/90kV transmission and distribution power lines and 26 transformer substations, as well as the electrified renovation of 500 local villages.
Construction of the project started on Dec 28, 2016.
Upon final completion, there will be more high-voltage power lines in service, which is expected to improve power supply quality and safety. It will also give 500 villages access to power through the new power lines.
The project will help improve local livelihoods, boost industrial development in related fields, and promote social and economic development. It will also benefit the country's goal of poverty alleviation.
