The first freight train from Central China's Hubei Province to Central Asia set off on May 20.
Loaded with 50 containers, the train departed from the provincial capital city of Wuhan, left China through Horgos port in Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and is scheduled to arrive at Alma-Ata in Kazakhstan 12 days after its departure.
Operation of the China-Central Asia freight train will play a role in promoting trade between Wuhan and the Central Asian countries.
As an important traffic hub in Central China, Wuhan has complete central station facilities for railway containers. The cargo train service will be a further step towards making full use of the city's preferential position and its developed highway-railway-waterway multimodal transportation system, as well as building it into a competitive distribution center for China-Central Asia freight trains.
