First Training Stadium for Beijing 2022 Paralympic Games Starts Service

Updated: 2021-05-25

The air-roofed curling and ice hockey stadium of the Beijing Disabled Persons' Cultural and Sports Guidance Center went into operation on May 16, the 31st National Day for Helping the Disabled.

It will be a training venue for curling and ice hockey athletes to the 2022 Paralympic Winter Games in Beijing.

Covering an area of 9,878 square meters, the venue is a single-storey building featuring an ice hockey rink and five curling sheets as well as high-resolution filming and scoring systems.

Two ice hockey teams and 10 curling teams can train there at the same time.

It is the first air-roofed permanent membrane structure in Beijing. The designed duration of the foundation engineering and the membrane material are 50 and 30 years respectively. Construction of the stadium meets building standards and sets a model for future construction of similar venues.

The Beidou Satellite Navigation System was used for time and spatial management of workers, which contributed to an on-time and safe project.

China Railway Fifth Survey and Design Institute Group Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Railway Construction Corporation Limited, was responsible for the construction which took only 130 days.
