State Grid's Contribution to Australian Environment Wins Affirmation

The Kendall Bay Sediment Remediation Project in Australia recently became a silver winner of the 2021 Edison Awards for sustainable development by adopting the Insitu stabilization technology for the first time in the world.

Located on the south bank of the Parramatta River about 10 kilometers west of the Central District of Sydney, Kendall Bay used to be home to a gas plant, which gave the area coal tar pollution.

Contracted by the Australian branch of State Grid Corporation of China (State Grid), the project was first approved by the government on May 31, 2019, and started in September 2019.

With effective management, detailed planning and an elaborate design and remediation plan, as well as close cooperation between the Chinese and Australian sides, the project was completed in October 2020, two months ahead of schedule and about 4 million Australian dollars ($3.11 million) under budget.

The Chinese contractor's technological innovation and remediation effect gained high affirmation from the industry and local communities.

The Edison Awards, founded by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in 1987, has become one of the world's top awards to honor innovation in products and service.
