China Telecom Builds up 5G Network to Promote Industrial Digitalization

The customized 5G network developed by China Telecommunications Corporation (China Telecom) is now available nationwide, the company recently announced at an online press conference on customized 5G and internet of things projects.

The company said that it intends to build 1,000 commercial customized 5G network model projects to promote industrial digital transformation this year.

China Telecom released three customized 5G network service patterns in November 2020, which are application scenarios to meet various network demands and speed up industrial digitalization.

According to Tianyi IoT of China Telecom, its independently-developed 5G connection management platform has functions like linkage management, slicing operation, data analysis and value-added services, which meet self-managing and servicing demands of its users.

So far, the company has launched more than 120 customized 5G projects in Guangdong and Jiangsu provinces and Beijing, aiming to make breakthroughs in the fields of medical care, manufacturing, steel and iron, and the chemical and mining industries.

In addition to the 5G-based network, the customized 5G network can provide more flexible, more complete and safer services. It is now used in various fields like smart public security and power grids for cities and parks.

A joint IoT open laboratory was also launched at the conference, which intends to help China Telecom's partners promote 5G and IoT commercial products on a large scale.

What's more, the company released 10 demonstration 5G and IoT projects in China which include a digital twin city in Shenzhen of Guangdong Province, a 5G smart park in Suzhou of Jiangsu Province, 5G smart mining in Anhui Province and 5G smart medical care in Zhejiang Province.
