China-Made Bridge Machine Erects World's Heaviest Prefabricated Box Girder

Updated: 2021-04-20

YUE HAI HAO, the transport and erection machine, succeeded in erecting an 1,800-ton prefabricated box girder of the Hangzhou-Ningbo Highway in East China's Zhejiang Province on April 7.

It was the heaviest entire precasting prefabricated box girder ever erected in the world.

China Railway Science & Industry Group Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of China Railway Group Limited, was responsible for development of the machine which is capable of resisting strong gales and can be used in various kinds of engineering construction conditions.

It's worth mentioning that the machine has so far obtained three patents for invention.

As for the Hangzhou-Ningbo Highway, it is about 161 kilometers long and its main track bridge is built with entire precasting prefabricated box girders.
