Harbin Electric International Company Limited, a subsidiary of Harbin Electric Corporation (HE), delivered the Minas 3X90MW hydropower project in Ecuador to its buyer on April 8 local time.
The first EPC hydropower project in power market in South America contracted by the company, the project includes construction of the station and the power transmission lines, as well as design, manufacturing, supply, installation and adjustment of electromechanical equipment.
It is also the third-largest hydropower station in the country and is regarded as one of the most crucial water conservancy projects of the Pacific waters.
The project is expected to supply power to more than 220,000 households and will play a role in Ecuador's economic development and upgrading of its electrical energy structure.
During construction, nearly 2,000 jobs were created for local people, and HE also trained a group of engineering technicians, which drove local economic and social development.
