China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec Group) has provided the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) with nearly 40 metric tons of highly-purified hydrogen so far to support rapid development of the hydrogen industry in the region, according to a statement by the company on March 25.
Daily hydrogen supply of Sinopec Group's Guangzhou branch in South China's Guangdong Province has soared since this March to 700 kilograms.
Located in the hinterland of the Greater Bay Area, the branch company launched a hydrogen supply center for hydrogen fuel batteries in December 2020 to meet hydrogen demands of the region. With a hydrogen purity of 99.999 percent, the center is Sinopec Group's first highly-purified hydrogen production base in the region and has an anticipated annual output of 1,500 tons.
The Guangzhou branch company is now accelerating construction of automotive hydrogen purification facilities and primary hydrogen refueling stations.
The hydrogen industry is now in vigorous development in the Greater Bay Area.
China's first gas-hydrogen integrated refueling station opened for service in July 2019. In addition to oil and hydrogen refueling, the station also offers charging and related services.
The company also announced last May that it will set up more than 20 hydrogen refueling stations combining hydrogen and gas refueling, charging, non-oil services, and photovoltaic power generation functions in Guangzhou.
