A China-Europe freight train left for Russia's St Petersburg on Feb 21, 2021, from Chengdu, Southwest China's Sichuan Province, carrying supplies for a Baltic Sea chemical complex project in Russia.

The train was the first on the route and is expected to arrive at the destination in 15 days.

The supplies on the train have a total weight of 677 tons and were packed in fifty 40HQ containers with a volume of 3,077 cubic meters.

The project, contracted by China National Chemical Engineering Group Corporation Ltd, is expected to be the world's largest ethylene integral project valued at nearly 100 billion yuan ($15.48 billion).

Upon completion, it will be a key component of the industrial chain.

What's more, more than 3,000 long-term jobs will be provided to local people when the project goes into operation, which will contribute to economic and social development.
