Construction of the key part of the roof of the Lusail Stadium, the main venue of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, was completed on Feb 13, 2021 as the 2,300-ton cable net was connected with the steel structure.
Contracted by China Railway Construction Corporation Limited, the project is the largest professional venue with the largest seating capacity built by Chinese enterprises overseas.
It also has the greatest span and largest cantilever distance of its kind in the world.
The pattern of the stadium was seen on Qatar's new QR 10 banknote issued on December 2020, the first time a China-built building has been honored in that way.
