NORINCO-Contracted Highway Renovation Project to Boost Local Development

The highway renovation project in Savannakhet Province, Laos, contracted by China North Industries Corporation (NORINCO), a subsidiary of China North Industries Group Corporation Limited, was recently completed.

A major highway project contracted by NORINCO, the 88.2-kilometer renovated highway stretches through Savannakhet and Saravane provinces, linking the No. 13 South Road and the NR1G highway.

The project included engineering of the road and its bridges and installation of traffic signals and protective fences.

With a designed speed of 80 kilometers per hour, the highway now has 19 concrete bridges with length adding up to 458 meters.

According to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, the project is expected to play a key role in economic and social development of the country, particularly in Savannakhet. It will make travel between Savannakhet and other regions easier and promote development of local production, tourism and business.
