Updated: 2021-02-07

Central Asia's largest combined cycle gas-turbine (CCGT) independent power generation project, the 1,500MW power generation project in Sirdarya, Uzbekistan, started construction on Jan 24.

Contracted by China Gezhouba Group International Engineering Co., Ltd., the project will be equipped with the world's highest combustion temperature gas turbine with the largest power output and best efficiency as well as a zero-waste water discharge plan.

A major livelihood project led by the Uzbekistani government, it will eventually provide more than 36 million kWh of power daily to local residents.

It was also the first project approved by the government of Uzbekistan to be invested and developed by an independent power producer and is a milestone of the country's energy sector development.

As enterprises in China, Saudi Arabia, Japan and Uzbekistan participated in the project, it will be a model of third-party cooperation in technology, capital and construction.
