China Railway Construction Corporation Limited (CRCC) was recently awarded construction of the Talca-Chillán section of the Route 5 highway in Chile.
Chile's largest infrastructure project, it is the first PPP project contracted by a Chinese enterprise there, laying a solid foundation for CRCC's high-quality and sustainable development in Latin America.
The section is about 195 kilometers and is scheduled to be completed within 92 months.
The project includes operation and maintenance of the existing highway section, expansion of 30 kilometers of highway, design and construction of a 54-kilometer ring road and building of 13 electronic toll collection systems.
Upon completion, the road is expected to relieve local traffic pressure and boost economic growth in affected areas.
A consortium of two CRCC subsidiaries is responsible for the project and for adoption of a mode integrating investment, construction and operation.
