China Telecom Makes Breakthroughs in Digital Transformation

China Telecommunications Corporation (China Telecom) has concentrated on strengthening its digitalization capacity by integrating 5G, cloud, network to promote cloud network convergence.

Promote cloud network convergence

China Telecom kept promoting construction of mobile and fiber networks as well as the 5G internet to build a new type of information infrastructure and a cloud-network integrated digital operation mechanism, which improved network operation.

So far, the company has completed a cloud resource pool based on more than 600 data centers, over 3,000 centers for edge computing and rich internet resources nationwide, meeting the online demands of governments and enterprises.

Construct digital platform for enterprises

China Telecom built a digital platform centered on cloud network convergence which is expected to evolve into a foundation of digital transformation of China's economy.

In addition, the company also developed middle ground platforms of business, data and technology as well as a big data lake to promote digital collection of global assets.

Improve internet information and data security

The company developed a security concept and protection mode appropriate for digitalization transformation to improve capacities in safe operation, protection and service.

It also strengthened data security protection and big data security and has primarily completed an in-depth defense system integrating cloud network, application and data.

Boost digitalization application

China Telecom has been making efforts to improve operation capacity in 5G and major cloud network products and to unify cloud network allocation and infrastructure management.

For example, the company re-allocated investment and costs and helped enterprises lower costs and improve efficiency through big data technology.

Its new infrastructure projects played a role in smart city construction in many areas and drove digitalization transformation of many industries.

What's more, the company built several digital platforms based on big data and artificial intelligence, which supported development of the integration central systems of governments and enterprises.

Contribute to anti-pandemic battle

China Telecom took its advantage in 5G technology, cloud network convergence and big data and guaranteed smooth information communication during the outbreak of COVID-19.

It contributed to network construction of the Huoshenshan and Leishenshan hospitals in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei Province, and launched many information applications like a telemedicine system to support the anti-pandemic battle.

It's worth mentioning that the company livestreamed construction of the two makeshift hospitals in concert with China Central Television using a 5G and E Cloud platform, which gained more than 300 million views.

Its products also played a role in spreading anti-pandemic and agricultural conditions in rural areas.

China Telecom will continue to deepen SOE reform and strengthen 5G-cloud network integration to support digital transformation of other industries and contribute to digital economic development in China.
