The Three Gorges Dam, which has the world's largest installed capacity, had so far generated 111.8 billion kWh of power in 2020, setting a world record.
The output equals that produced by burning about 34.39 million tons of standard coal, and eliminated about 94.02 million tons of carbon dioxide, 22,400 tons of sulfur dioxide and 21,200 tons of nitrogen oxide, which contributed to construction of the clean, low-carbon, safe and highly-efficient energy system in China.
As one kilowatt-hour of electricity can produce 13.8 yuan ($2.13) of gross domestic product (GDP), the 111.8 billion kWh of power generated by the plant would have supported about 1.54 trillion yuan's worth of GDP.
A backbone power source of the country's west-to-east power transmission project, the Three Gorges Dam has 34 hydro-generator units and a total installed capacity of 22.5 million kilowatts.
It is designed to produce 88.2 billion kWh of power annually.
Its first generator unit went into operation in 2003.
