CSG Powers GBA Development

Updated: 2020-12-29

China Southern Power Grid (CSG) had supplied more than 54.92 billion kWh of power to Macao by Dec 16, contributing to development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).

CSG launched several projects to support GBA construction in 2019 and intends to invest more than 170 billion yuan ($26.04 billion) in power grids in the Pearl River Delta in the next five years as it forms a world-leading energy security system that improves power supply reliability in the GBA.

Hengqin Island in Zhuhai, Guangdong province, is the frontline for power supply to Macao.

Operation of the 47 medium voltage feeder lines in Hengqin New Area of Zhuhai in the China (Guangdong) Pilot Free Trade Zone on Nov 19 was expected to boost construction of the demonstration zone of in-depth cooperation between Guangdong and Macao in Hengqin, Zhuhai.

CSG's Zhuhai Power Supply Bureau of Guangdong Power Grid Co., Ltd., responsible for power supply to Zhuhai and Macao, is devoted to construction of a smart power grid, strengthening guaranteed power supply.

The smart power transmission corridor to Macao developed by the company went into trial operation on Nov 15, which greatly improved operation and maintenance efficiency of the grid.

The project is capable of identifying errors and faults of the power supply facilities based on artificial intelligence and can automatically monitor performance of the power lines 24/7.
