State Grid Completes World’s Largest Electric Vehicle Charging Network

Updated: 2020-11-30

A press conference was held on Nov 20 to announce that the smart vehicle online platform of State Grid Corporation of China (State Grid) had connected to more than 1.03 million charging piles in 273 cities of 29 provincial regions.

So far, the network covers a larger area, connects to more charging facilities and has stronger service capacity than any other smart vehicle platform in the world.

The platform now links with 626,000 public charging piles, respectively 93 percent and 66 percent of China and the world's public charging piles.

Users can easily enjoy charging service nationwide through a single mobile application.

The smart charging will help lower charging costs and improve utilization of the charging facilities while ensuring safe operation of the power grid.

Next, State Grid will encourage users with small and medium electricity demands to participate in the market and lower the impact of the scattered power load on the main grid.

The electric vehicle-centered green power trade and improved new energy power utilization by new energy cars will also be focuses of the company.

State Grid also released an analysis of charging data of China's new energy cars at the conference.

The report includes information about the upstream and downstream parties on the new energy car industrial chain and analyzes charging features of such cars based on both driving and charging big data.

It is expected to provide technical support for governmental policies on new energy cars and contribute to coordinated development of users, vehicles, charging piles and charging networks.

What's more, the report will play a role in the new operation model of the charging industry.
