The 1 million-ton coal liquefaction facility independently developed by China recently went into operation at China Energy Investment Corporation (China Energy).
The reactor was manufactured within 14 months which was the fastest delivery of the 2,100-ton hydro generators. All procedures, from gathering forging material to forging, welding and inspection technologies were domestically developed.
To ensure long-term safe and stable operation, various renovations were made in the piezometer mouth, sector cup, flushing oil, passette and the manhole of the reactor.
Innovative technologies were also used in its design. For example, the advanced China-made ramp and China-developed pipe-joint integrated forging technology first used in the project optimized heat treatment during forging and at the same time guaranteed the mechanical property of the ultra-large forge pieces.
The newly-developed automatic welding technology was used in welding the pipe and internationally-leading ultra-thick welding inspection technology was applied to guarantee a high-quality welding of the reactor.
The operation of the facility shows China's high efficiency and strong capacity in manufacturing.
The plant will also play a role in improving China's coal liquefaction technology and industrial advantages and in laying a solid foundation for high-quality and large-scale coal liquefaction.
