China Telecom Completes Full Coverage of 5G for CIIE

China Telecommunications Corporation (China Telecom) has completed deployment of 5G internet service for the upcoming third China International Import Expo (CIIE).

So far, full coverage of 5G internet had been completed in the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) – the venue of the event – and places like high-speed trains and subway stations as well as affected areas along the maglev lines and high-speed railways.

Compared to 3G and 4G internet, 5G calls for more base stations to fully cover the same area and it is difficult to build base stations downtown or on flyovers.

To give users a more fluent and stable 5G internet experience, China Telecom increased construction of indoor and outdoor base stations, and built 5G base stations on telephone booths and highway portal frames.

According to the company, more than 13,000 outdoor 5G base stations and 20,000 indoor mini base stations are now ready for service.
