Hao Peng, Secretary of State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC) Party Committee and Chairman of SASAC, met with Sharon Thorne, Chair of the Deloitte Global Board of Directors, at SASAC on Aug 27.

They exchanged in-depth views on expanding pragmatic cooperation by promoting high-level openness in central state-owned enterprises (SOEs), enhancing their core competitiveness, and working together in building the Belt and Road.

Hao outlined the progress of reform and development of Chinese state assets and SOEs.

He said that President Xi Jinping has delivered important statements on China's reform and opening-up as well as the reform and development of state-owned assets and enterprises, offering direction and fundamental rules in comprehensively deepening reform and expanding high-level opening-up in central SOEs.

For a long time, acting as independent market players, central SOEs have been highly active in global commerce and trade activities for win-win outcomes. Looking into the future, as central SOEs embrace rapid high-quality growth and expansion, there will be huge potential for cooperation.

SASAC will further promote central SOEs in deepening reform, expanding high-level opening-up, and innovation-led development; support their cooperation with global companies such as Deloitte to enhance global operation capacities; promote their participation in building the Belt and Road in greater depth and substance; and improve their capacity in global resource allocation, technological innovation, and core competitiveness to nurture a group of world-leading businesses with global competitiveness.

Thorne reviewed the cooperation between Deloitte Global and Chinese central SOEs.

According to her, Deloitte's success in China has everything to do with huge achievements by China in reform and opening-up. With full confidence in China's sound and stable economic growth, she appreciated the initiative proposed by the Chinese government and restated Deloitte's commitment to it.

She also stressed that Deloitte looks forward to in-depth cooperation with Chinese central SOEs. Utilizing Deloitte's professional services and global network, the firm is able to help partners achieve greater efficiency in restructuring, technological innovation, and risk prevention in globalized operations, participate more widely in the initiative, and realize global development with higher quality.
