Boiler flushing of the third phase of the Cilacap coal-fired generating unit project in Indonesia was completed after just 20 months of work.
It represents the shortest construction period among one million-kilowatt overseas coal-fired generating unit projects.
Located at Cilacap in Java, the one million-kilowatt coal-fired generating unit is one of Indonesia's 35 million-kilowatt power plant projects.
Designed by Southwest Electric Power Design Institute (SWEPDI) and constructed by China Energy Engineering Group Zhejiang Thermal Power Construction Co., Ltd., both subsidiaries of China Energy Engineering Group Co., Ltd. (Energy China Group), the entire construction was undertaken with equipment used in Chinese power station construction and was built to Chinese technical standards.
It will provide strong energy support to Indonesia's economic growth when completed.
Different from construction at home, overseas power projects face geological and cultural challenges, as well as special standard requirements and risks.
Chinese workers' innovation, efforts and intelligence played indispensable roles in the fast and high-quality construction.
Meanwhile, recruiting local residents was one of the ways to avoid potential risks and push forward the construction.
More than 2,600 jobs, or nearly 76 percent of total staff members, were offered to the local people.
Started in November 2017, the project proceeded with effective resource allocation and high-quality management.
In addition to guaranteeing the schedule, special groups for quality management were established, said Zhu Xingwang, chief engineer of the third phase of the Cilacap coal-fired generating unit project.
The group members discussed problems everyday and reached for solutions, guaranteeing consistent good project quality.
Looking forward, Wang Bin, a worker in charge of operation and maintenance of the project, said "62 Chinese staff members at my position have joined in the project and we will do our best in operations and maintenance work of the project to show China's excellent services."
